Last week I had the privilege of attending the MGI UK & Ireland Partners, Directors, and Managers Conference 2023 in the beautiful city of Edinburgh. Held at the stunning Waldorf Astoria Hotel, with Edinburgh Castle as a backdrop, the conference started on Thursday morning amidst a palpable buzz of excitement.
It was a delight to finally meet face-to-face with many of the MGI member firms I’d previously only connected with via email or Teams. It was also great to meet new acquaintances, including some who had journeyed from as far as South Africa.
I was thrilled by the interest shown in Summa Tech’s comprehensive solutions, especially our seamless onboarding and secure client document platform.
This year’s conference theme, ‘risk,’ couldn’t have been timelier. Among the standout speakers was Karen Eckstein, who delved into risk issues for accountants and strategies for management and prevention.
Margi Luzanycia from The Alchemist Collective was equally inspiring, emphasising the significance of aligning people, purpose, profit, and planet in business. The interactive engagement sessions were a chance to forge valuable connections and sparked thought-provoking discussions.
Throughout the conference, I engaged with numerous accountancy firms, uncovering common challenges they face, notably:
- The lengthy and cumbersome process of onboarding clients.
- The widespread desire for a streamlined, more efficient approach.
- The urgent need for a better solution.
Firms expressed their need for a secure, cloud-based client portal for document exchange and a one-stop solution for all their needs. The bespoke nature of Summa Tech’s solutions, tailored specifically to each firm’s requirements, was particularly well-received. Additionally, the potential for integration with existing systems, like CCH and Credit Safe, was a point of keen interest.
The event, expertly organised by MGI Regional Coordinator Rachel Pugh, provided an excellent opportunity for Summa Tech to delve into the specific pain points of accountancy firms and showcase our innovative solutions tailored to address these challenges.
Our commitment at Summa Tech extends beyond providing just a product. We aim to offer solutions that resonate with our clients’ unique needs, assisting not just business efficiency but also supporting their broader goals and values. This event has reinforced my belief in our approach and the positive impact we can make in the accountancy sector.
